Transportation
For traveling, long distances the Inuit had many ways, one of which they invented themselves, the kayak. Originally made of seal skin, it was made to hold only one person (Modern kayaks can fit up to two). There’s only one paddle, which you use both sides to move the kayak with. The Inuit used them to catch seals and chase caribou. Another boat they used was an “umiaq”. It was large and somewhat like a big row boat. The Inuit used it to catch whales and walruses. The last form of transportation is the dogsled. It is rarely used in modern times. A dogsled is a sled, pulled by dogs, hence the name. They were used to travel long distances on land. Modern Inuit now use snowmobiles and the few people who have a dog team use them for racing.
